How to restore iPhone or iPod touch with password locked

If your iDevice is disabled because you entered an incorrect passcode, you can reset it using iTunes.

Step 1: Connect the cableEdit

Connect the iDevice cable to your computer's USB port.

Step 2: Put your iDevice in Recovery ModeEdit

You should see an error message saying the iDevice is locked with a passcode.

Press the Lock button and the Home button until the screen goes blank and the Apple Logo appears. When that happens immediately release the Lock button but continue to hold the home button until you see a USB cable pointing to an iTunes icon. This means your device is in recovery mode.

Step 3: Restore your iDeviceEdit

Press the 'Restore button in iTunes, confirm that you want to restore, press the Agree button if you see a license agreement, and wait for the updates to be installed.

Warning WARNING: Always back up your iDevice before restoring. You can also choose to restore from a previous backup before the passcode was set by pressing the Option key (Mac, on PC hold Shift key) while clicking Restore to select your backup.

Step 4: Done!Edit

You are now done.
